Gal Pal

Thank goodness this Queen of Summer has stopped by today.  Kings the last few days, I needed some feminine input for the day.
I have been trying to reduce my use of "guys" as a collective group conveyance or greeting.  "hey how are you guys?" especially so when it is a couple of gals.  It is an accepted way of saying hi or hello but kind of off putting if you think about it when it is to women, young ladies, or girls.
If I greeted two men or guys as gals "hey gals what's up?"  they would be very put off.

More Girl Power!  Hiya Ladies how's it going?

  1. I often greet a group of mixed genders in the same way. I'll have to be more mindful of my words from now on!

    1. It is a hard habit to break. I've been working on it for weeks, still saying my niece and her bff, "hi guys.. gals, how's it going?

  4. hi guys how ya doing is my least favorite way of being greeted by waitstaff. I'm figuring next step is taking off shoes and curling up next to me on the bench. a cheery good morning or hello works for me.

    1. in a group of friends I say Hi Gang. Brings the mental image of black and white striped suits, that makes me laugh internally.

    3. My least favorite is "hi sweetie or honey." It wasn't that endearing when I was younger and now it is seems demeaning and dismissive as I grow older.
OH OH , even more so. Hi Doll...I am not an empty headed plaything. Thank you very much.
