Let it go

The longer we hold on to that which no longer works for us, the longer it takes us to realize the possibilities that await us.

Inconsistency

Staring at the bottom of my empty cup is not going to make it fill up with anything anytime soon.  In addition, filling it up with just any ole thing is not going to be satisfactory either. Today feels more like a Five of Cups moment. I am going through that transition period of lingering with what was and not turning to view what could be. Actually I have been lingering at this moment for quite awhile and really beginning to get bored with it and myself. Bored enough is the question? I think the King would say "enough with this indecision, get on with it" but the 'it' is the question.

Shelf life

Past, Present, Future. Stuck in review we really can become a pillar of salt. Salt, a natural preservative, so of course if we keep looking at the past we become preserved in the loss, anger, disappointment.  How long do we wait before we realize to make the turn, enjoy the day and the promise of tomorrow.

Last night, Today

I had an uncomfortable, reveling two-part dream last night. There was betrayal of trust, loss of faith, and the second-part, retribution. Watching the reel of the dream I realized all the participants were supposed to be facets of me. The little things I do to myself that undermine me, and then the mind revealing thoughts of how I punish myself with the antics I participate in, mostly in my thoughts. I wonder if indeed, I have been my own best and worst enemy, per se?  I guess I can dwell on all those missteps and continue to focus on regret or for once in all just let it go and move on. A valuable lesson, especially as I am getting to old to linger in regret. Get up, shake it off, lesson learned, move on.

Intriguing

This group presented themselves this morning, the cards kind of stuck together. I noticed that on either side of central card the images are insubstantial, not fully present, like whispers of past and future.  I wonder if most of my daily struggles are based on those whispers, shadows of things past and not yet or may never materialize?  Doing some research since my cardiac event, it seems stress is the major contribution factor, more than genetics or diet to arterial plaque. Can all those thoughts and concerns of yesterday and tomorrow be what really clogged up my arteries?  Bogged me down in fight or flight? Something to consider.

Letting go

Not so much as sorrow but the acceptance that things didn't work out as hoped or promised. It is hard to shake off the image and feelings of an expected future, we can become adrift in the lingering disappointment.  How long we stay in the shadows is up to us. Never good to stay too long, but really, only we can pick up the promise of tomorrow and meet a new day.

Frustrated

Well it looks like I got frustrated with the three cups from yesterday's Four of Cups draw. Got up and kicked them over. What I was not expecting is the red and green liquid that was spilled.  I am facinated with the spillage.  Why green and red? All these years and never payed attention to the red and green spill.
I keep coming back to red and green for Christmas.  Oh no, I think! I cannot wait around till Christmas to figure out that I need to turn around grab the other options and move on.
It's true I have been grappling with a situation and keep delaying one more month.  If I don't decide soon, there will be five kicked over cups and then where will I be when I don't leave myself with options?

What ifs

Those dang, nagging 'what ifs'
If we keep looking back wondering what if? we are bound to trip and fall.  Eyes ahead...

1,2,3,4,5

This deck reminds me of FALL.  Lots of the scenes in the cards are based in Autumnal settings.  Too bad it doesn't feel like Fall here.  Ninety degrees here today; Wednesday I think the weather will finally break.  A few weeks ago we had two teaser days of cooler weather and then back to heat.  Once around the corner, it will be a good time to open the house, let the cool breezes drift through and give a look see  to what does not serve a purpose and move it out of the house.  Letting go of objects and feelings will clear space in my home, heart, and mind.  And that is a good thing.

Rollercoaster

More cups?  Yesterday I had a few emotional moments, not sure where they came from.  When I got home I remembered I had drawn the Page of Cups and had my ah-ha moment.  Trying to stay afloat in these turbulent days.  These struggles I must see through and then on to the new.

Repose

You could get stuck here.  That place of regret and what if.  When I shroud myself in what could have been, I lose the opportunity of what still may be.  Enough.  Toss the cup of fear, worry, and anxiety and move along.

Revisitation

No Choice is a choice.

When given a choice and neither feels right, I take the third option and just walk away.  Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda... Hindsight is usually 20/20.

Unburden

Regrets I have a few...

Yesterday I drew the Two of Cups, and here I must leave that promise behind.  The three cups and bag are packed and only need to be lifted to leave the walled garden of regret.
Sometimes things don't work out.  How long we stay with the grief or  regrets are our own business.  Others can tell us to move on and get on with it, but if we do not finish our business with sorrow, grief, regrets and likes of it, we carry it with us, and never really 'move on.'  It will always be with us a part of us, but we are either shackled or strengthened by it.
Unburdened is my word for 2018.  What am I ready to let go of and leave behind?

Self defeating

Yesterday the four today the Five of Cups.

Well yesterday sitting under the bodhi tree, deep in concentration of the three cups before me I did not see the offering of the fourth cup and now there is a second one to encourage me to turn away from fear, worry, and the evening news.
The other day I saw my twenty-five year old niece skipping down the walkway from her parents home to her car.  I watched her and appreciated the simple joy that is expressed in skipping and wondered when the last time I felt like skipping?  When I was about the same age, a long way back down that river.  I remember a manager at the place I worked at back in 1980/1981 telling us that times ahead where going to be tough and that we better begin preparing. I was 23/24 and I think I spent a good part of my days skipping to and fro. 'Who cared about tomorrow, when we had today,'  a much better place to live from.  If I can just turn away from fear, worry, and anxiety and  pick up the cups of simplicity and joy maybe I can put some skippity-do-daa in my days.
