Here and Now

I have drawn another "egg" card today.  This deck has several cards that prominently feature an egg.  Birthing something new maybe.  I have been watching an eagle nest cam that my friend Bev told me about and both eggs hatched last week and both died this week.  I think it might have been the heavy rains that occurred over that nest in Georgia.  Not even momma eagle could keep them completely dry and warm with several days of torrential rain.  Sad, but part of life.  That Eagle pair have been very successful raising their babies for years. This year, sadly not.  And that is true with lots of new things we start as well.  Sometimes we are successful and sometimes not.  Still we must and do continue on.  That is Life.

Pitch Perfect

It is said that we all have a note or sound that we resonate with, much like the Universe hums along to OM.  Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do - (OM).
There are songs that get my heart to beat a bit faster and my toes a tappin'.   Some of the sweetest songs or tunes to hear are those of our birds. Thankfully Spring is around the corner and they will begin their song fest to announce Spring, encourage companions, and the trees and grass to grow.  Lovely.

One door closes

"When one door closes another door opens, but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us." - Alexander Graham Bell

And you know it is usually true.  Life is change and change comes whether we are ready or not; the trick is to embrace the change and grow.  It is not too late to try something new and open a new door.

Fortunes and Follies

Is Life a bunch of randomness?  Fortunes and follies, a roll of the dice? Right place - right or wrong time?  Are we born to our fortunes and follies?  Sometimes you win - Sometimes you lose?
I did not wake up with these questions, but this depiction of Justice has me asking them.  This opens a dialogue within myself that I don't want to have today.  So I will just take this card's appearance as a suggestion to do the right or best thing I can with myself today.

Warning

Pay attention.  This makes me think of all the people and me too sometimes that are texting while doing something else.  Walking, driving, dining, movies, shopping and the list can go on.  We are deluding ourselves that we can do two things adequately at the same time.  We are menace to ourselves and others, and something is lost when we are not present in the moment.  Reminds me to be in the here and now,

Man oh man

Look who is coming by today!  Probably need a dose of his vibrant energy.  All cloud cover and lots of rain in my neighborhood.
The (lwb) possible description for him 'dark man'  I have to disagree.  The King of Pentacles is the 'dark man' if there would be one and of course there could be.  The King of Wands might cast a shadow with his wands energy, but dark, I don't think so. He might be tempted for a bit with something off the beaten path since he likes to shine, but a few steps in and he would turn back and cast his gaze on something or someone more suitable.

After said and done

IDK what the old boy Death has to say to me today.  He is crooked and I didn't rescan.  Again, a downhill ride seems easier to deal with anyway.  Maybe his message will arrive later today and if so I will update my post for my future reference. Maybe Death is just out for some fresh air and evey one gets scared at his passing.

Oh ho ho

Oh ho ho, it's magic you know, never believe its not so! -Elo

The Magician has come to visit.  Hope she/he stays for a bit.
I have been reading different versions lately of "What you think about you bring about"  "You become what you think about"  the " I AM"
I also heard a speaker talk about a youtube video "The Strangest Secret" by Earl Nightingale, a half-hour older video about becoming what we think about.
Even though part of me wishes the Magician is someone that shows up and makes magic for me; it is I, who is the Magician.  The one that takes the tools (on the table) and makes magic for myself.
So what can I do today, that brings a bit of magic in my life?

Think about it, or not.

I wonder as I get older, am I forgetting more or have I just quit listening to all the b.s.  I have a wonderful memory but it is not like it was 10 years ago.  Is it the curse of aging or the blessing of aging?  Only the really important things are considered.  I have limited my involvement with the World, so I don't take as much in, and that is a good thing.

Work Horse

It is going to be one of those weeks.  Work, work, work. Good!  I need to be out and about and do some earning on my way.  Also meeting tax-preparer this week, so there's that.  The Knight seems to be tilted, like riding down the hill so that come be a augury of work this week.  It is always easier going downhill than uphill.

Coming and Going

Retreat. Quiet time. Reflect.  Taking a moment or a Saturday to turn back and look at my week, or the year so far on this day forty-seven.  This week I started Sunday with the World and all my cards up to today seemed to be filled with happy and uplifting energy.  The Hermit says, "take a step away."  Evidently that is how Saturday will go for me; got up and then decided after a bit, a nap. How nice for me.   Have I mentioned, I don't care for the cold weather of Winter.  Now I can mark off another week and after today turn back towards the World and continue on till Spring. Longer days of sunlight and warmth. Rainbows and daffodils. Three more weeks till the time change and we spring forward.  Nice!

Emotional airing

Let's take those feelings out and give them a good airing.  Things bottled up usually take on a life of their own, and mostly become blown out of proportion.  Every once-in-awhile you got to let them out; if not they end up in an emotional melt down.  No crying in your cup.
Take 'em for a spin and see where it takes you.

First Sight

Love at first sight? You betcha.  Happened to me once, many years ago.  I can still remember the moment that has freeze-framed in my mind.  My breath caught, heart stammered, a high-whine in my ears, and time stopped for a brief instant.  The cascading rush of sensation was overwhelming.  Nothing much came of it, but what a rush for the time it lasted. A soul mate possibly, to meet up in another life.
Now as I am older Love at First Sight, can be the flash of a hummingbird, the joy in a loved-one's face, a melody first heard, rainbows, trees, summer rain, winter's snow.  I tell my nieces and nephews that they are the loves of my life, they too were love at first sight.
Happy Valentines Day

Proffered

With the draw of the Ace of Cups, the day holds a lovely promise.  Why then do I feel like just crawling back in bed and search for the offering on a day I choose. Doesn't work that way does it?  Well, maybe once in awhile.  Sometimes we seem to hit a streak, some good and some not so good.  Like the stuff that I mentioned yesterday; it floats around and lands here and there, or seemingly so. I have a choice, go back to bed or get out and experience the day.  Cloud cover has dissipated, at least for today, so that is a promise in itself.

Count your blessings

Reminds me to take a moment and count all the good and positive in my life.
Life is neither good or bad, it's just Life. Our reactions determines the experience.  Which brings to mind when I say to others that "crap-that lousy luck that sticks to us and eventually lifts and lands someone where else," is really us accepting that we can't control everything and when we release the need it moves on.
Can't sit in the garden today because it is raining. But...I volunteer at hospital today, maybe I will take a minute and stop on the fourth floor and look at the new babies.

Symbols

I often wondered why Waite and other early Occultist placed the four symbols in the corners of The World and The Wheel?  Some say the Four Evangelist, the four Apostles, four symbols of the elements in astrology.   A few years back I visited the Monastery of the Sisters of St. Benedict, an hour or so west of where I live. My sister and I spent part of the day at the chapel and walked the grounds where the Stations of the Cross are located.  Growing up Catholic some of the symbology still speaks to me.  When we first arrived I was astounded to see the Four Apostles on the front of the main entrance. (below) Amazed again at something depicted in different faiths. Another example I think of how the Roman Catholic Church tried to incorporate the Mother Earth practitioners into the fold.  My favorite is St. Patrick chasing out the snakes of Ireland, a.k.a the catholic church forcefully removing the druids.
We need some of the 'Old Ways' to bring us back to the wholeness of The World.

Speculate

I am 62, my outwardly appearance does not match my internal reflection.  There are days that I am stunned by the mirrored view of the 62 Carolyn, when the vision of me from my mind's eye is more like 42.  I wonder if it so for others?  When Death comes calling who will the after this, persona be? Probably won't matter.  I believe in reincarnation and the Divine Gathering of Spirit when we move from Earth to the Returning Place. There is Heaven for others, and still others the end is the end.  If it is not the end, who or what do we become?  Will I brand identify with Carolyn 62,42, or 22.  Will it be Brad, Carlene, Tomas, Susan, Robert, Mike, Teresa, or Wispy One?  Well I hope I can frolic and run and jump and do cartwheels again.  Something to look forward too, not the normal fear of not knowing.

Into the Blue

This Prince of Cups is all muddled and confused.  He typically would be the Knight of Cups, but currently stuck in an emotional quandary; he just keeps swimming back and forth between decision and indecision.  He is not getting or going anywhere.  Well hell, might as well set down and have a cup.
Time is his friend and soon he will be up and riding his dolphin to the outer reaches.  Today, might be a good day for me to pause and have a diet pepsi when faced with a emotional choice.

"Pepsi Cola, hits the spot, Twelve full ounces that's a lot. Twice as much and for a nickel too. Pepsi Cola is the drink for you!"

Press on

That little conversation you have with yourself when nearing the end of some task that you started waaaay too long ago, and just now finishing up.  You just have to press on through the final bits of this n that.  Keeping your focus on the satisfaction or relief of getting it done.  That way you can move on to the new adventure that awaits with the Prince of Wands.
Although Wands start many things, they usually leave it for others to finish up.

Prudish?

I don't care how much someone brings to the table, put a shirt on.  In today's world of just about anything goes, I still do not like to sit down at a table with a man that is bare-chested or for that matter any one that is half-dressed.  Maybe a baby in a highchair, but other than that, No.
