Time apart

Interesting that this Hermit is not apart. He has a stag for a walking companion and in the distance, we can see someone waiting at the window for his return. Maybe he is out for his nightly after dinner walk. A bit of time for planning. We do not necessarily need to retreat to a mountain top to get in-touch with ourselves. Quiet moments of introspection and meditation are needed throughout our day.

Confusion in the mist

When I first saw this depiction of the painting, "Wanderer in a Sea of Fog" it reminded me of Johnny Depp's character, Gellert Grindelwald in the movie Fantastic Beasts. Grindelwald had whiteish blond hair, a cane, and wore a long black walking coat in the movie if I remember correctly. He was known to say "for the greater good" trying to explain or justify his wicked ways.  I wonder if in those Hermit moments when we self-examine if there might come that moment when we could and sometimes do 'cross-over' to the dark side? We are a mixture of light and dark thoughts and feelings, those emotions which sometimes can get the better of us. Do a good deed, we feel good about our actions. Do a not so good thing and we can be wickedly delighted. Stepping into the Hermit's territory we must be cautious and understanding of what may be discovered in the mists of our minds.

Stand apart

Detachment. To stand apart. It can be challenging to spend time with oneself.  The shadows within the gyri and sulci, the folds and grooves of  our brain are those crevices where memories are stored. Can we objectively review? Some are pleasurable, some are not. Each will have an emotion attached to it that can affect the examination.

Pluto goes retrograde today for six months. A good time for looking at those secrets and shadows. Hermit time.

Introspection

The last day of Autumn here, though it has been feeling a bit on the wintery side lately. Tomorrow the Winter's Solstice. The long darker days of winter ahead.  In truth I look forward to the Winter's Solstice as the Earth begins her turn back towards the Sun and the days begin to lengthen. This is the Hermit's time.  During these cold and darker days of winter we need her/his light of guidance to get us through. A quiet time of introspection to look inward and to give a good long look at ourselves.

Deep Wisdom

Realizing and accepting that a good bit of what goes on is beyond our control. Our reaction and response is what we do have control of.  I drew the Hermit in my Yearly spread back in January, which feels a lot longer than ten months ago. Today I think The Hermit is here to remind me to reflect and review those begone days. My mind is a bit quieter since I made a change a couple of weeks ago. In my reflection time I wish to search and decide what I replace that time with; not fill my mind and thoughts of what ifs and worry. Harmony with myself and the World are more lofty goals.

A major pair

Two cards presented themselves this morning and what a power pair.  I don't often draw The Empress and with her second appearance in the last week or so, that gives me reason to pause. There will be time enough in the future for reflection, for today and these days to come, enjoyment of the here and now is the advice given.

The Hermit

I believe this Hermit is looking back at the girl in the Ten of Wands yesterday.  Carrying all those issues and decisions to be made.  Late yesterday my niece called and announced that she got the job as a PT in the Greater Chicago area, and coincidentally she is a red head like the gal in the ten.  I am overjoyed that she is following her path and joining her fiance' up North, but, admit that it going to leave an empty place inside me. Yet another person, place and thing I am changing my relationship with in 2020.  This Hermit, card per the author, has been wounded and from that wounding new growth has sprung forth.
Winter puts me in a Hermit stage and with the revelations about myself and career and my niece, now is a good time for reflection, leave what needs to be left in 2019 and contemplate what could be a good year in 2020, if I choose to follow my new path.

Unexpected company

What is going on here?  I drew The Hermit today and thinking that maybe a guide would show up today, or someone who just happens to give a bit of advice or suggestion.  Maybe someone in the checkout line at the grocery; you never know.  Anyway the scan came out like this. How did The Magician sneak in on the The Hermit?
I evidently left The Magician on my scanner yesterday. I have never left anything on my scanner; not just on the blogs but all the other thousands of documents from my work-a-day life.  Why The Magician and why now?  Today will be interesting to see if I find out.

Privation

What do I search for?  Yesterday was a quiet day.  No calls, no pressing appointments.  I slept a lot yesterday and did a couple of guided meditations.  A Hermit day.  I have had these times throughout my life and they can scare me. As a salesperson with no clients to work with, it can mean failure and many questions of self worth.
Not now, my days in sales are numbered and I am okay with that.  I need to embrace these days of solitude and withdrawal to help me find what I am searching for.  What is next.
Yesterday I drew the World and spent my day on my own. Maybe a inclination to the end of one way and the beginning of another. Today, the Hermit. Which way will the path take me?

Archetype

I remember years ago participating in an on-line astrology class. One of the first assignments was archetypes and defining the ones that we assigned to ourselves. The Hermit was one of mine and still is. After the storms that passed through the area Friday my electricity was out until late yesterday afternoon. There were many instances I thought, 'well I will do this or that' and almost all were connected to electricity. I couldn't cook the food that had thawed in the freezer, listen to music to pass the time, or surf the internet on my phone since there was no way to recharge. I chose to spend most of the day on my own mixed in with a nice long nap. I also contemplated life without electricity and realized how much we take for granted, with such a life of ease.  A Hermit day indeed.

Moon Goddess

From the booklet ~  Traditional card: The Hermit, keywords - meditation, withdrawal, introspection.

I have had this deck for a number of years and never questioned or asked who Chang O is or was.  So I spent the last half hour or so reading a few excepts.   The best I can tell you is Chang O's withdrawal was not intentional. And that is the way of the Hermit sometimes.  Whether by design or not some times we find ourselves alone and what we do with that time is up to us.  Find spiritual fulfillment, self-awareness, loneliness, or just pick fuzz out of our belly button (Sharyn) is up to us.
I also wondered about that rabbit and in my research I found that Chang O is often represented with a hare, and the Hare of the Moon can still be traced on the surface of the Full Moon.  Something else newly learned, Idk that a rabbit impression was on the Full Moon?  Come on June 9th so I can get a glimpse.
