WOW

Day Three

This is the third day in a row that The Empress has visited.  I welcome her.  As my guest she can stay as long she wants.  If she is here to comfort and nurture, she can stay as long as she wants.  If she is here to be my friend, she can stay as long as she wants.  If she here to teach me, she can stay as long as she wants.  So glad of her company, I hope she stays with me a long while.

Extended Stay

She had more to say

Just now the above sentence popped in my head, something from yesterday's appointment.  The Empress has decided to extend her stay with me. Yesterday I had a late afternoon appointment with a woman who had saved my information for 8 years. She had so much too say and so little time to say it. Much of our conversation was about how wonderful she was. Still vibrant into her seventies she, I believe she has worn out her welcome with any friends. In my many years in sales I have never run across someone with such dressed up insecurities. I have met many who are lonely that needed someone to talk to you, she needed someone to talk at.
Does this Empress spend so much time out in nature to heal herself or isolate herself from such assaults?

That Girl

Say what

The Empress has stopped by today.  Got no idea what she has to say to me.  I hoped as the day went along I could relate, but nothing so far.  Maybe she just stopped in to say hi, remind me Life is good and to look for all the great things around me.  Lately I have been telling myself how grateful I am for the things I do for me.  I remember to say thank you in general to the Universe, God, Goddess or whomever is listening, but I don't include me for me.  So thank you Carolyn for working all these years, to provide a home, clothes, food, drink, cars, vacations, entertainment, Christmas presents....for me, myself and I.

The Gift of Foresight

I wonder sometimes if we knew the end result of a choice if we would make the choice at all.  Do this or that? then look in a crystal ball and see what becomes of us upon arrival at our destination. Go here, go there, or then don't go at all?  Every time I start something new there is anticipation and apprehension.  Will it be all that I hoped for or worse yet will I give up before I even make it to there?

Rear-a-view mirror

More isn't always better.

Ain't that the truth?  More isn't always better.  In this me me me society and I want it and I want it now, this card is more pertinent now that when Pamela Colman-Smith designed many years ago.  I guess that old adage "times change, people don't" is pretty apt in this depiction.  There are always those that want to get away with something, myself included; I have gotten much better through the years, but every so often I try to 'sneak one in' It is just our nature.  Case in point, it drives me a bit batty when people know the exit is up ahead and yet don't want to wait in the line to exit, so they speed pass and then cut the line ahead.  And then lo and behold, Carolyn does the same thing, using the excuse everybody else does it.  I look back and see I got ahead of twenty cars and saved myself maybe "7" seconds.  Crazy.  Ain't Life Grand.

Reevaluate

Stop look and listen

As I pondered my draw of the Page of Pentacles I noticed that his right bicep is rather bulky, suggesting maybe someone who has been working on body building, I hadn't noticed before.  And yet with all of his strength, his touch with the pentacle is rather light.
What does all this mean? Not sure, but something to ponder on like the Page gazing at his Pentacle.

This or That?

I am not listening.

Shut down and tuned out.  This card reminds me of the times I catch myself with my arms crossed at the chest.  When I realize that I am in that posture, I immediately think what is going on that has put me in a defensive posture of detachment?    I have learned to pay attention not only to myself but others.  What is being said that I or another has begun to withdrawal from the conversation?

Then I took a second look and thought she is a merperson, left the sea for some shore-time and now she has to choose, and she can't.  What can one do when a choice so needed can't be made?

Heartbroken

A loss of sorts

I have lost or misplaced or it has gone into hiding, a card, The Three of Swords. I was shuffling my deck and several cards jumped.  I saw one and picked up and knew that several others went under the dresser that I use as my altar space.  I swept my hand and there were several more. I went through deck and the Three of Swords has gone missing. No where to be found.  I am sadden by the loss of a friend.  I have another deck stuffed in the back of one of the drawers, still a loss is a loss and I am sadden. And thinking on it, that is the lesson of the Three of Swords, heartbreak or sadness after the fact.  I will search and maybe find the card or come to the realization that gone is gone.

In the Details

Better the devil you know than the devil you don't

What a timely card for me today.  Later today I will be tested by clients that are dissatisfied with some portion of an up coming sale.  I gave them the most timely and appropriate information and they choose to ignore that advice which has now proven to be correct.  They want to act like victims and place their incorrect decision at my feet.  Sorry, not going to happen.  I have no sympathy left in me for the ones that want to attack, blame, and criticize instead of owning up to their part in
their decision.
The word lie is within the word devil.

On Guard

What others think of you is none of your business.

"I am able to laugh at life and at myself. I choose not to be offended by anything or anyone."  -quote from my daily affirmation calendar

I heard the top line in an on-line video; a  quote they used and one I have heard before. Between the card, the quote, and the affirmation I can pretty well bet that someone is going to say or do something that will try to diminish me.
It make me think of what another blogger Bev King mentioned in her recent post about meditation. That meditation makes us aware of the incessant chatter in the back of our mind that continues all day long.
For today I will be mindful and not allow another to make their troubles mine.

When one draws two cards of movement I think I better 'get a move on.' We are all on are way somewhere; the journey is ours to choose.

Submerged

What lies beneath

It is those things that remain hidden that can do us in; that can get the best of us. Our hidden insecurities are the same, lurking just beneath the surface until something disturbs our fragile held balance and then whammo, self doubt and recriminations.  I guess that's the school of Life.  When we think we are finished with a lesson, the test proves that we need to do a little more work.

Kindred Spirit

Communion - come together

Communion and communicate share the same root word - com: come together.
I was thinking of one of the clients I am working with, a younger gal about 25 and a first-time home buyer.  She mentioned the other day that she doesn't watch much tv and never watches the news. It reminded me of when I was about the same age and those much older worried about the daily events that were portrayed on the evening news, and I remembered that I never watched the news at that age and did just fine. The world goes on much the same now as then.  I think I will try to find more of what goes on around the world in communion with eagles and such.  There is so much more to do then sit and look at that idiot box.
Just heard some Canadian Geese honking as they went by.  Now that is welcomed news, Spring must be getting closer.

Do a little Dance

No major tsunami moment yesterday, and that calls for a little happy dance.

Go Figure

Tsunami - I am nuts

After shuffling and then drawing this card my thought 'oh crap.'  Tsunami - A wake up call, just what I need.  Then I saw an almost reversal of the spelling that results in 'I am nuts.'  Well heck I could have told you that.  Aren't we all just a little bit nutty?  I laughed thinking about that as the other day I had to have my laptop worked on and the tech said "no you are not crazy, as part of the discussion about what was not working with my loaded programs.  I turned to him and told him I was most certainly a bit crazy as I am 61 and entering my allowable eccentric years, but I was not 'nuts'.  Is there a difference? Maybe maybe not.  Maybe there will be a tsunami moment today and hopefully it is just a small wave action.

Quiescent

It is always darkest before dawn

This card almost feels like a portrait of Demeter, after her long wait of Persephone's return.
At this time of year it almost feels like I am motionless, waiting for the return of Spring.  Winter has dragged on and I long to soak in the warmth of the Sun to take the deep chill from my bones.  The Earth begins her tilt and each day the Sun appears to stay aloft a minute or so more. Soon, Nature will cast off her brown blanket and give us the gift of Green.
I think today would be a good day to do some early Spring cleaning, maybe some clutter clearing to make way for the new that is coming.

Are you sure?

If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck....

Misrepresentation, happens all the time, sometimes intentionally and others not.  Is everything as it appears to be? There are times when we should take a second look, just to be sure.  The clip-art below sums this Seven of Air(Swords) up pretty comically.

Sister, fare thee well

The Secret Keeper of Tradition

Another powerful woman comes to visit.  I almost feel she is sister to the Feminine Hierophant of yesterday.  Sisters, who both were given tasks of safeguarding information of the Old Ways; information that goes back millenniums. The Hierophant kept the Book of Tradition and the High Priestess the Scrolls of even older esoteric information and secrets.  The question is why have they come in tandem to visit me?  I don't often draw either so that is interesting in itself.  They cannot reveal their secrets, just maybe they can give me some guideposts.

Teacher

The Keeper of Tradition

I am entranced with this feminine version of the Hierophant.  I have started several drafts and yet I cannot string the words together to define what feelings she evokes within me. She appears much softer than her masculine counter-part and yet she must be just as disciplined, as a Keeper of Tradition.
The booklet advise me to maintain a spiritual practice of prayer, meditation, and gratitude. So I believe I will spend some extra time and thought with this card.

Song and Dance

Practice makes perfect

Very few are born endowed, gifted with extraordinary talent or genius.  Even those that are have to practice and define their skill set.  The gift I have is the gift of gab, makes me perfect for sales and yet after being a sales person for so many years it has long since lost any glamour for me. I see many new faces in the field all afire with wide eyed enthusiasm for their new careers and I wonder how long before it wears on them and then I wonder about those really gifted ones if this too becomes an issue.  Do our careers become just another way to put money on our tree?

Impetuous

The spark of momentum

In most decks the Ace of Wands leads the pack of the pips.  Like the Fool it is the spark of momentum that helps lead the way, or begins us on the path to somewhere.  When I first drew this card impetuous was the word that came to mind.  I am not sure that the Ace of Wands/Fire is about being Impetuous, but this ace can sure give us a spontaneous spark of insight. Impetuous must be my watch word of the day.

Fore!

Wither on the vine or thrive.

Life can come at you and sometimes all you can do is hold on tight and hang in there.  Still holding on too long to the here and now we stagnate; nothing stays the same. We are meant to adapt and change, to be the creator of our own hero story.

Daydreaming

When there is less to choose from, what choice is there to make?

I realize that I still have options even after adding another year, year after year.  I don't think my age, but feel it.  Do I limit my options because of the aging body and daydream with my younger mind?  I just had a thought, with all those affirmations and focusing on the positive, why has my body aged at all? With that question a new thought crossed the scrolling marquee of my mind. The answer, boozing and partying when I was much younger, spending too many hours sunbathing, stress, and tornado are the major contributing factors.  So I can see what fills some of my cups.  Those are four cups filled, now to figure out what to place in the other three.

Enough I say!

I will go this far and no further.

Have you ever noticed that a person or peoples can really appreciate your original and unique personage, thought, or dress and then in in earnest they set out to change you, so you can conform.  The old mirror and match mentality.  Oh how we like people to be just like ourselves.  Boring.

"You first took a little step off the path to avoid some rocks. For a while, you walked along the path but then you wandered out a little way to step on softer soil. Then you stopped paying attention as you drifted farther and farther away. Finally, you found yourself in the wrong city wondering why the signs on the roadway hadn't led you better."  Bradon Sanderson quoted from The Emperor's Soul
