one, two, three

Spring is around the corner, just three weeks away.  Besides the time honored 'Spring Cleaning' projects, it is always a good time to start something new.  A garden, a self improvement program, or maybe a new community project.  As with anything new, it has to be tended, nurtured, and then eventually harvested or completed; and what we harvest depends on the all the foregoing things.  These gals took the time to plant, tend, and harvest their herbs.

I always like to start a new program in the Spring.  So many people make 'New Years' resolutions which for the most part do not last.  Spring is a much better time to start a new project with warmer days, lengthening daylight, and Spring just feels better than the deep dark days of Winter.  So what new project interests me?  I always have a list of things I would like to do or work on; deciding is the challenge.  Maybe I will put 3 choices on a slips of paper, toss them in a basket, pick one, and get started.

I really don't have any thoughts for the day.  I wish I had this kind of attitude.  Maybe that is my task for the day.

Sunny Days

Children, usually upon greeting each other can become automatic friends.  The author of this card comments "horses ridden by children from the East and West."  Children don't see the differences in each other and just enjoy themselves in the moment.  We are born fully accepting everything and everybody that comes with in our sphere.  The distance, segregation, bigotry are learned along the way.

And along the way we learn about the imperfections in our own selves.  There ensues the life long pattern of unhappiness.  Ahh to to live in the constant bliss of the The Sun and early childhood days of joy and laughter.   Today and tomorrow the weather forecasts full days of sunshine  and unseasonable warm days, a blessing for February weather.  I am putting all that other stuff on the shelf and spend some days in the Sun.  The Sun burns off all the shadows.
Also the Sun is supposed to help lower my cholesterol levels, which the Nurse Practitioner says is on the high side.

For a day

Now this is an activity I can wrap my head around.  Chasing butterflies.  Simple, easy, carefree living.  This adventurer is about to get a good soaking but I don't think it will diminish his joy.  He and his traveling companion will get a good laugh about the whole thing and then continue on their way.  The Sun is brightly shining and he and his clothes will soon dry.  And I think he has fallen before and lost one of his sandals in the last creek and just continued on his journey.

Live for today, just for today.  Bundle up the cares and worries and leave them for another day.   And who knows when you think you are taking a misstep, the bundle of worries I carry may slip off like my other shoe and wash away down stream.
It is a little early in the year for butterflies, but I do have a butterfly brooch and I think it will go smartly with a sweater today.

Today I drew the Seven of Swords and nothing much came to me from the image.  It is so different than most seven of swords cards, even down to just one sword appearing in the imagery.  So I put it back in the deck and reshuffled thinking of the seven of swords and then I went looking for the card again, and the two flanking cards to help me fathom the message.
There are two players in each card seemingly doing everyday things for them, but are they?   The Seven of Swords can usually mean trickery and possibly theft.  Well here we have it, I see it. In the first card the one gal is checking out the others art to use the idea for herself.  The middle card now is clear to me, the dude with the sword is not standing ready to defend, but is going to take the jeweled orb even if he has to kill the setting overlord.  The third card just came off as beware the 'smile and handshake' the one guy is definitely up to no good.
Again I better pay attention to what is going on around me today.

Sharyn, you are right this deck is making me dig a little deeper. Thanks.

Not sure what to think

This card of Temperance does not make sense to me.  To many incongruities.  The Goddess Temperance stands before those two women and they are not in awe or humbled by her presence?  I guess even the higher powers have to have water to survive.  And then when the two women do get to the waters edge how are they supposed to get their water?  That's a pretty steep drop off; they are going to get their dresses in a mess laying down to scoop up the water.  And what about that waterfall in the background, wouldn't that make the water much more turbulent?

Maybe today I will pay closer attention to the details of everything going on, all may not be what it seems.

No, not for me

It looks like it's tournament time.  All dressed up and ready for the day ahead.  Mostly for show it seems, but still he needs his wits about him as he prepares for the  archery competition.  "No I don't want to have a drink, here take it back."  Celebration comes after the success.

I think a lot of Pages are about communication and beginning something new.  Maybe he used to party in his college years or days gone by but now he has to get down to showing that he can do what he has been learning and practicing.
So for today I will look for a new way of doing, saying, or starting something.  I am bored anyway so some new approach will go a long way to lifting me out of apathy.

Look a little closer

This juggling act seems improbable.  Two maybe three things going on all at once but more than that I am not sure.  I don't know why the artist decide to place six spheres in this card when normally there are just two with this pentacle drawing.  Even though a lot of times I am  trying to choose between the tasks at hand, there are more things going on in my life than just, this and that.

The Hand is Quicker than the Eye is an old expression, especially when it comes to parlor tricks.  But in reality the Eyes are much quicker than the hands.   The art of distraction is what causes me to lose my focus.
If  I change the angle of my view than sometimes I can really see what is going on.   So for today I will keep myself vigilant for things that aren't really what they seem.
Dr Wayne Dyer used to always quote, "Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change."

Done that, Did that.

After achieving a certain amount of success, are we ever really happy?  Satisfaction of a job well done doesn't last, before we have to accept the next challenge, move on to bigger achievements and glory, or at the very least keep defending our top of the hill.  When is enough enough.  This King had his kingdom but felt like he need more and ordered to his countrymen into the Crusades, which ended up being a disaster.

I no  longer want to be Queen/King of the Hill.  Never made it after trying all these years anyway.  Now I would like to settle in and enjoy my days.  Do my work whatever I feel like doing for the day and not keep thinking I have to work harder, smarter, and be more successful.  At the end of some days I feel like I have been in the battlefield all day, and I just don't get the 'charge' of adrenaline and satisfaction of it.  Beating others over the head with the wand of yesterday doesn't really give me any satisfaction anyway.  I feel like the page in the backdrop with his head turned away and thinking 'this ain't for me anymore.'

I wonder if this Ace of Wands I could use as an instrument of enlightenment.  I work with clients that can't see the larger picture sometimes, and I occasionally want to thump them on the head and say "Let's look at the larger picture here."  Maybe if I had this magic wand I could wave it and make everything better for them, for everyone.

So instead of beating people on the head maybe I need to find a better way to use this Ace to help light my way.  I can't make people change their minds.  I can't force them to see the forest cause there are so many trees in their line of vision.  I can only accept that we all get stuck in our ways, myself included.  I don't want to be hit over the head with a club and I am sure they don't either.

"If you find yourself daydreaming to the point of utter non-productivity, it could very well be a sign that you need a coffee break.  And if you have a sneaking suspicion that this is a long-term problem, and that your lack of concentration has to do with your lack of interest in your job, it is time to start making plans to change.  But you knew that..."

This was a quote from horoscope some years past.  I have saved it because when I become discontented with my life, I have to give this quote serious consideration.

I have dreamed of this place, stone circles, dark brooding mountains, misty fields.  The shadow land, the place between dreams and wakening.  We all travel there at night into the space where dreams may come.  Some bizarre and unfathomable, some fun and secretive, and some of them predictive.
Most I forget when I awake, but some stay and shape my day.  I had one this morning and I have had the same before so it is one that I must pay attention to.

This card has a overwhelming presence of purple, violet, and lavender. The colors of higher consciousness, is what most describe it, even the white swan is cast in lavender tones.  The air even shimmers with it.  Ahh to walk in this moonlight place, where dreams are made.  Avalon calls.

Here's to it then

This King of Cups is focused on the past.  He holds his cup and looks off to the right, maybe stuck in a memory.   What he should be focused on is what has got his dog's attention.  Something out there coming their way. Nothing worrisome since the dog doesn't seem alarmed. I am curious is to where everyone else is?  Someone had to drag his throne up there and pour his beverage in his cup.

I guess today I better pay attention to what is in front of me or something forthcoming.  Not get stuck in 'used to be' and just get on with it.  Sometimes I get stuck in my own thoughts and don't give enough attention to other things going on around me; so today I best keep my thoughts more focused on the here and now.

Go Forth

This is my call to action.  I have thought about starting a new project of self improvement and today is my start date.  Here is the energy and enthusiasm to get myself going.  If there was a card to say 'yep get going' this is the card.  This Knight stands at the ready with a flame held high and really is ready for some action, "Lets get this show on the road!'

Yesterday I spent the day with my Sisters.  I love them all.  For the most part my sisters have spent a good portion of their lives as 'victims', always placing the blame - never taking responsibility for themselves; not good for them, but for me I worked a little harder at not sliding into the abyss.  I will not go quietly into the night (no pun intended).  Just cause I am getting along in years I will not settle, there are things to do, maybe a few more quests!  Just the spark of action I need to get going.CHARGE.

My sister that lives close by and I are planning on a day trip to see our other 2 sisters in Indianapolis.  There were 5 girls and 2 boys in the family.  Traditional Catholic brood.  Out of the 5 sisters the four of us are still hanging out.  My eldest sister left the Planet many years ago.  So when I saw the 5 Wands, I thought of the 5 sisters.

These 5 wands are all grouped together standing at the ready.  I guess we were that way when we little girls.  There was a lot of years between us, 14 years between oldest and the youngest.  I wonder sometimes how we all were together and all these years later so far apart?  Strangers, yet my Sisters.  The traditional 5 of Wands show a bit of fun and conflict.  I guess it was so with us

I saw my first Heron the first time I was in Florida, some thirty years ago. Beautiful and solitary.  It wades along the water edges fishing.  This bird though came up to visitors knowing it would get tidbits, rewarded with an easy meal. I usually work solitary at my career but occasionally get leads from another agent, usually just castoffs and occasionally a decent lead but mostly just crap. It has been bugging me lately and I guess it is time to do my own fishing and forget the easy meal.

Heron - self-reliance
With unique objectiveness, Heron examines what and how to improve.  It teaches how to use its legs to stay balanced on its own.  It uses courage to balance every truth.  Heron challenges your weaknesses and asks you to use your innate wisdom to stay on your own path, even when it's different than others.

To Be or Not to Be

Life has taught me to try to be the best me I can be.  Trying to 'weasel' my way out of things or not doing the right thing always comes back to bite me.  This card warns me, Me, of not being a Weasel today.  To watch my temper today and not get manipulative, just to get my way.  So with fair warning I will try to be on my best behavior all day.  Most days I do manage that but sometimes I slip up and can be a little mean if things don't go the way I want. 'my bad'

Weasel - stealth
Weasel seeks out secrets using innate ability for silent observation.  it can squeeze through tight situations into areas of life others cannot enter.  When threatened, it won't hesitate to attack.  Be clear about anger's sting.  Silence isn't a sign of weakness but beware of being manipulative.

Busy Bee

I see five 'Light Maidens' tending their garden.  Bees do a little dance trading information and greetings I am guessing,  and their dance pattern is a lemniscate. Fascinating that their dance is the pattern of infinity.  Bees have fallen on hard times with all the pesticides and lawns without dandelions.  The notable thing to me is they just keep doing what they do. Dance in the Light, tend the flowers, and support their community hive.  Solid good wisdom

Bee - accomplishing the impossible through the heart
Busy, helpful Bee fertilizes life.  The honeycomb cells represent the heart:  Love what you do.  It represents a social structure where each member knows its work and works for the good of the whole.  Bee balances hard, productive work with time to enjoy the sweetness of life

Song of the Seas

Yesterday Dolphins today Whale, definitely have a water theme going.  I watched a old Star Trek Movie the other day, THE VOYAGE HOME, and the Enterprize crew had to go back in time to get humpback whales to save the future.  Their song had been missed and some higher intelligence came to find out why.  'They'
say millions of years ago we crawled out of the oceans, maybe that is why we are so out of place on the land.  Listen to the songs of the seas.

'Whale's spouting breath frees creative energy.  Because it breaches, it also helps you stay grounded.  Ancient wisdom helps insulate you from unneeded forces.  Create through song - allow sound to tie into hidden levels of the mind and use the depth of imagination to let go of fear.'

Some of my best memories of vacations are in Florida. Down at the beach and looking out over the water you see it, a dorsal fin, and then more and their they are, dolphins. To witness them moving through the waves on their way to who knows where is a gift.  I lift my arms and I am filled with the magic of the moment and the movement of these brothers and sisters of the sea.  To be one with Nature I think, is the answer.

'Water and breath are essential for life.  Dolphin creates a rhythm of energy and time for communication between Dreamtime and Earth's children by swimming between sea and sky.  Breathe to bring healing to body and spirit.  Use sound to bring in creativity.  Together, they can be used for your greatest power.' - SPIRIT ANIMALS Oracle Deck -Sue Lion

Pesky little things

Sue Lion the creator of this card gives us a look at the mole in a beneficial light.  I think not.  Moles are pesky little things.  Digging tunnels in the yard, which can destroy plants and the grass above and makes it difficult to walk across the little mole hills.  Makes me think of the old adage...'Don't make a mountain out of a mole hill.'  I will be on guard today and not let the little things get to me.

'Mole protects growing crops by hunting harmful creatures and burrows holes to aerate the soil, which brings in knowledge.  It senses vibrations in the earth.  Mole passes messages from mankind to the spirit world using meditation from the nadir.'

Busy as a beaver.  Guess today I need to get up and tend to my home.  Shore it up a bit.  There is washing to be done, some dusting and vacuuming.  Simple things really.  If I become adrift in my life this is good place to start.  Home.  It was how I was taught; first make sure you have a place over your head and then make sure you take care of it.

'Beaver is the dreamer of safe family and a well-contructed home that leaves many doors open.  It protects what it has through conscientious work.  Teamwork honors the contributions of others.  Achievement is gained in the power of consistent work and a cheerful demeanor.'

Two sides of the Coin

With the Lemniscate present in this card I thought immediately of it being a 'higher' octave of the Two of Pentacles I drew yesterday.  My parting thought of the card yesterday is that there are two main drivers in Life - Love and Fear,  and here they are.  With her tail tucked between her legs this poor lion has been beaten down.  I have never seen a lion with its tail tucked between its legs, not on any PBS special or any of the Leo's walking around, well maybe in  a zoo.  Fear kind of does that to us, beats us down into submission and only with the power of Love can we recover.

The Love has to come from ourselves and I think sometimes that is what Life is about, just accepting ourselves for who we are.  With all of my flaws, weaknesses, fears, and insecurities, this is who I am and that is okay.  I came into the world all shiny and new and then Life happens.  Now is the time for me shake off all that worry and see the power of my 'Lioness' self.

Flip a coin

Choices.  Yes/No. Here/There. Right/Left. To Be or Not To Be. This/That. These days I have to measure and judge almost everything.  What happened to spontaneity?  When I did things on impulse and figured it out on my way.  I watch my young niece zipping through life and shake my head and I realize it is not so much that she doesn't approach life with caution but more like I have become so overly cautious in my life I wonder how did I get so old? I hear my Mother in my head saying you can't keep burning the candle at both ends!

I need to play more.  Quit trying to balance it all and figure it out before doing anything.  And just do it.  Set aside my worries and concerns and have some fun.  Looks like my ships will still come in.  And if the ships don't come in I will swim out there and get them.

"There are two main drivers in the World.  Love and Fear."

Ride the Wave

We do what we are,or is it, We are what we do? Self Perception.   Do I behave in a certain way because it is expected or because it is a true reflection of the inner me? I pondered this same question last week when I drew the Princess of Pentacles, wondering if we were allowed to become the true expression of our self, the one that we were born to be, who would I be today?  Shaped by our parents expectations who were shaped by their parents expectations, a limited education system, and mainstream ideology, is it any wonder that most of all us exhibit bipolar tendencies?

I was recently reading an article on the Quantum Field.  I don't understand Physics, never really made much sense to me.  In fact in High School my favorite subject was Science until I hit the wall of Physics.  If I tossed a pebble in the lake I could watch the ripple of the wave spread across the pond. But, if others tossed their pebbles in the pond at the same time and all those ripples went out then we have a lake of choppy water.  I kind of paraphrased the article, but what we have is a lake of turbulent water.  Would I even know what my wave looked like with all the interference of other waves.
Today maybe forget the water and just find a quiet bench in the corner and read.

Can Do

Today I take charge.  This is lots of energy with a Can Do attitude.  I let fear and worry get to me a bit yesterday and this King says 'shake it off Carolyn' and get on with things.

If Actions Speak Louder Than Words, I guess I better get up and out my chair and go get things done.  Sometimes it can be a better choice to wait things out, but not today.  Today I go for it, whatever It maybe.  Guess I will know when I bump into It.

No other card upsets me like this one, The 10 of Swords from the RWS deck.  Months prior to the trauma I suffered in 2012 I drew this card a lot.  So to draw this card just gives me the heebie jeebies and I cannot be objective.

I will carry the dark cloud with me all day.  Maybe I will just go back to bed and hide under the covers.  Hopefully this is the only day I draw this card and whatever storm that is brewing on the horizon just blows by.

I'm Waiting

All dressed up with no where to go. This happens to me in my sales career.  I get ready for the appointment, prepare the information that is pertinent to the client, gather myself and the things I need, make sure my car is clean and shiny (first appearances and all) and - and the client calls and cancels the appointment.  There I sit just waiting and wondering 'now what'?

It can be frustrating to say the least.  I have been doing what I do for a lot of years and it doesn't bother me as much, mostly I go with the flow.  If it wasn't meant to be it wasn't meant to be, so at least the time before the appointment is all that was wasted, possibly. This Knight is still young in the saddle and he is not quite so seasoned.  Maybe I could do a little mentoring for someone just getting started early on in their career.  I will look for the opportunity to help someone along today.
