I am aware of the waning daylight in each of these days as we approach the Winter's Solstice. The Wheel turns as we enter the quiet time of the year, Winter.  Today presents us with a Full Moon.  We are so close to the shortest day of the year, I realize that this will be the longest viewing of a Full Moon in the Year with such a long night ahead of us. Full of mystery and magic, I wonder what will my spin on The Wheel reveal to me today under the light of the Silvery Full Moon?

On a drive the other day I noticed that all the trees were bare; a very blustery day finished that last holdouts. Sadden by the starkness of the leafless trees that have withdrawn into their winter hibernation, I also appreciated the openness of the landscape revealed by the barren trees. I counted in my head the months till I hopefully will be able to see the returning of the green with Spring's arrival. Always in transition, the Earth and me with Her.

New bits of information may or may not be pertinent to us, always a good thing to check it out.  I have heard the phrase "stranger than fiction" several times in the last few days. This depiction of The Wheel reminds me of that Acceleration Sphere used in the movie 'Contact' that opened a Worm-Hole for travel. A spin on the Wheel can feel the same; a formidable force when activated moves us on a different trajectory in our life. Sometimes the only control we have to a changing direction is our own reaction. We make it good, great, or not so good. How we think about a thing is the remembered impression.  Life, a spin on The Wheel of Fortune.

This is my new go-to Wheel.  The Astro Wheel. There is so much to learn and interpret, that it is a bit over-whelming. My latest discovery is House Systems, over a half of dozen now in use. So many ways to look at the sky above, eye-view, binoculars, telescopes. The Sky is eternal; shifting and drifting over the eons, so the stories that can be told are varying and always interesting. One can get lost on this Wheel of Adventure and I often wonder what my counter-part of 3000 years ago saw when she looked up at the night sky? Mostly the same sky, that is if I can get to a place of deep darkness, no light pollution; to she what she saw.

I wonder what my spin on The Wheel will bring to me today?  Yesterday evening I stepped up to the Wheel and asked for what I asked for.  Today the Wheel spins and when it stops I will add my token of appreciation. All requests are answered, some not the way we hope.

The Only Constant

 "The only constant in life is change." My Dad used to say this. I don't know where the original quote came from, but I remember my father saying this in his later wisdom years. Change comes to us all.  I can't decide if this Wheel is announcing Change or inviting me to take a spin on the Wheel of Chance? Either way change is upon me. 

I keep hearing the quote from Galadriel in the Lord of The Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring,- "I feel it the water. I feel it the earth. I smell it the air."

Change.  Change is the answer. No since looking farther than the mirror.  The gal reflecting back at me, that is where the change begins, with me.  I can hope the Wheel will spin and stop on, better health, more money, people who have more sense, the violence to stop...
Me, I have to be the change for me.  For others the only thing I can change is my view of them.

Are we active participants spinning The Wheel or do we let others and circumstance spin it for us?  I like to think I actively make my own choices and then an email yesterday reminded me I am sitting on the sideline of my life waiting for an something to happen.  Is the delay just a time-line of fate or a reminder my choice was to wait it out? Six weeks, what is six weeks more?  With Covid options, six weeks seems reasonable since we are in a wait-and-see world.

Well here it is June 30, the Year is almost half way through it's annual  yearly cycle.  The Earth spins approximately a thousand miles per hour and given that I don't think I have hardly moved an inch in the six months since the year rang in.   So far the year has felt that a long labored climb.  It is always more of a challenge going uphill than down.  Maybe the second half will be easier or at least seem less troublesome.
The Wheel spins and so the year continues.

Waiting to see what The Wheel brings to me.

She who spins, Clotho.  One of the Moirai, the Three Sisters of Fate.  She who spins. 
Looking at the fairy spinning gold makes me wonder during these days of contemplation, what am I spinning? 
Compassion, fear, anger, tolerance, intolerance, hope, Light?
I/we cannot return to the previous way, we are changed. 
It must be remembered that everything that has been spun must be collected and wound up and becomes our cloth of life. 
Who do I want to be?
And so, The Wheel spins.

A view apart

I wonder what it takes to be a heavenly master, portrayed by the dragon, phoenix, tiger, and black turtle?  They are no longer on The Wheel but have risen above the mundane and not swept along by the Wheel of Chance.  The Wheel can crush us some times and then take us to joyful heights.  Which is all good and well but the adrenaline overload and the ups and downs do take their toll. 
So what can the Dragon, Phoenix, Tiger, and the Black Turtle give us a advise.  Alchemy I expect.  Transformation. 
When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

Spinnin' Wheel

I heard the song 'Spinning Wheel' by Blood Sweat and Tears as I turned the The Wheel of Fortune card over.  I have heard myself say that several times over the last week or so, with the beginning of the New Year.
"And The Wheel Turns."  Let's hope it spins freely and not grind us under it's weight. 

Matter of luck?

While out and about taking a stroll around the countryside, imagine coming across a wheel of fortune.  You look about to see if there are others about and think - 'why not?' Take a spin... A matter of luck? A predictor of up and coming? A parlor game?
So then I grabbed my deck of cards of the Sabbats (a lovely gift from a friend)  mixed and spun, and The Wheel landed on Litha.  The opposite side of this Wheel.  Shortest day and longest day of the year.  Makes me think of things in-between. 
A matter of luck? I wonder if it is a reminder, the The Wheel of the Year continues to spin and the choice is, how I spend my time during the spin.

Random turning

What will the day bring?  The random turning of The Wheel keeps us in suspense.  Today, This or That?  Want the same thing day in day out; don't leave the house.  Do we throw our hands up and snort in derision because we are victims of chance? Or, throw our hands up in a victory dance? (well look at that, rhyme time - chance/dance)
Given the opportunity today, I will step-out of my comfort zone and give The Wheel a spin. Something new and fun may be the result.

Ever Turning

My life lately has been me being the marble, bouncing around on the roulette wheel.  I have sore places that I can't see from all the knocks. The Wheel ever turns.  On top one day and crushed beneath the wheel another. The How and Why of it sometimes we just never know. 
Lately I have been finding dimes.  For years I used to find money all the time.  Now, so much is bought with the convenient debit cards, dropped money is a the thing of the past.  Still I find bits of coins here and there, but lately dimes.  In the last 3 weeks twelve or more. Which is more than I found all last year.  Makes me wonder.  Tens are usually a signal something needs, must, or will change.  I guess I am in the midst of that.

Change, Camouflage, Concealment, Chromatophores, Carolyn.  C is the word for the day, I noticed the clocks in the lower left hand corner. Time pieces that resemble The Wheel. 
This card feels more like The High Priestess, looking into the eyes of this octopus is like slipping in to the deep fathoms where the priestess can take us.
I did not know that the lifespan of an octopus is about a year. The Wheel turns pretty quickly for them.  I wonder what I could get done in a year? One way to find out.  And the Wheel turns.

Fortune's child

I am not going to over think this card and study it long and hard.  I am not going to try to figure out why the fairy has spun her golden hair so long as to cause a tripping hazard.  Who knows maybe she found Rumpelstilskin's wheel.  I am just going to go with the feeling that something wonderful is coming my way.  The Wheel of Fortune has turned and for today, I am Fortune's child.

Stormy weather

As above so below?

This card feels like a microcosmic version of The Wheel. Maybe the Wheel in action in day to day events.  Here is birth into troubled times.  Yet something new brings renewed hope instead of the apathy normally present in the four of cups. 

I also saw the bird in reverse action.  Earlier in week the feather, than a few days later, a bird in repose during stormy weather, and now the birth of the bird.  Ending, middle, and beginning; the flow of time in reverse?
