Evaluate

Yesterday when with a client, one of the last I will be working with, told me recently in one of her sessions with therapist, that she was advised to think about if her house was on fire and she just had a few minutes to grab what she could, what would she get? The understanding is everything else is not really that important. Something to think on. This gal in this Six of Swords looks to have done just that, grabbed what she could, the most important things to her, and left the rest behind. She looks back longingly at that which she left but she got the important things and is ready to move on.

Waiting for your ship

When it is time to go, it is time to go.  We want to wait for the perfect moment to launch ourselves, but most of the time that perfect moment does not present itself.  Waiting too long bogs us down, doubts arise and we remain anchored in our indecision.  When our ship comes in, get on in and get on with it.  Change is scary, staying stuck can be a nightmare.

Lift off

I could hear in my mind the flap and snap of sails with the wind passing through and over them and I let my mind drift.  I wonder if I found my happy thought, where it would take me?

I think of the cards in the Tarot usually as a procession from one to the next, a story line. When not sure what a card might mean I can review the cards on either side to help with what might be revealed to me. When I look at the Six of Swords between the Five and Seven of Swords, which both portray taking things that don't necessarily belong to us, or letting or thoughts lead us astray; since we are in the realm of Swords, I wonder about the Six? The Six of Swords takes us away from the Five only to find ourselves back at the Seven of Swords, repeating lessons needed learning. Hopefully so we can skip pass the hardships of the Eight, Nine, and Ten of Swords and sail on to clear and bright blue skies. No more hard and buffeting winds or thoughts, just clear sailing.

Dizzy

New ideas can take us places or confuse and leave us swimming in circles of indecision.

Best laid plans often go awry.

Sun salutations

The last full day of Summer.  Where did the days go? The days of waning sunshine have not gone unnoticed. The weather has turned seasonably cool these last few days; unlike last year when ninety degrees held sway until early October.

Today, this last day of Summer is a good reminder that change comes to us all. We are all on our way somewhere. Celebrate it, enjoy it, resist it, deny it, and still we move on. There is something special about turning and tipping your face up to the Sun. That's where you find me today, in the sunshine.

I wonder

Transition * Insight
Getting your point across.
I wonder if the point you are trying to get across is better delivered with the brush of feathers or the tips of swords.  Both will garner attention but I think the stick of the tip of a sword would leave a more indelible impression.
"Speak softly but carry a big stick" comes to mind.

I love watching dragonflies.

Shout at the rain

When it is all said and done and we have exhausted ourselves from that which has unsettled us, we move on.

Tip the boat

When I first started to work with cards I did work with them in the reversed position and then not.  Occasionally one will present itself reversed, I am guessing because I need to look at something from a different perspective. All those swords and concerns we travel with as we go along.  After a time we get used to them being there and yes, if we pulled them out, the boat might leak, or an issue or some trauma spills over into our life.
We can reason away, forgive, and or forget a pain, a fear, a betrayal but really those traumas and issues are always with us; shape us.  When we start digging and pulling at those stored away things, life becomes uncomfortable, fear and anger can drown us if we are not careful.  This reversed perspective says let those swords fall away as they loosen.  I don't need to pull at them.

Take away

What do I take away after the conflict in the five?
The challenge in the five changed me.  Decide how to proceed forward.

Wherever you go

There you are.
Though the surface of the creek, lake, river, ocean may seem serene, the water beneath the surface is always in movement.  Since we are made of of mostly water, the flow beneath our calm exterior can be gently rolling, strong under currents, or a tsunami of emotions.

Muse

Smooth Sailing.  My affirmation for the day is "I release all the drama from my life, and now get energy from peace."  Can this be true?  I have been so tired of late, my energy levels have bottomed out.  Is it the daily drama that is doing this to me?  Good hypothesis as any.
On a good note, I brought my Muse home yesterday.  I saw her in a local garden center a few weeks backs and resisted.  I received a 35% off of everything coupon in mail a couple of days ago from the center.  I hoped that she was still 'hanging out' waiting for me and she was, and now I have her on my work-space table top.  She brings a happy smile to my face.

The Gift of Foresight

I wonder sometimes if we knew the end result of a choice if we would make the choice at all.  Do this or that? then look in a crystal ball and see what becomes of us upon arrival at our destination. Go here, go there, or then don't go at all?  Every time I start something new there is anticipation and apprehension.  Will it be all that I hoped for or worse yet will I give up before I even make it to there?

Dragonfly

Six of Feathers, traditional card, Six of Swords

From birth to death we are always on the move, from here to there. Change and transition are part of life.  I am Carolyn, but not the Carolyn that became Sixty-one years ago, nor will I be the same tomorrow as I am today.  What do we give or give up along the way?

On another note, I love dragonflies. Skipping around from here to there in late summer.  No matter what I am doing I will stop and take the time to admire them.  On these cold, colorless days of winter, this dragonfly reminds me that Spring always follows Winter and soon I will see the dragonflies of Summer.

Move along

Sometimes we just have to turn our backs on a situation that no longer serves us.

Time to see what is on the other side of the river.

Wherever You Go There You Are

I remember a time when I was about twenty-one and very dissatisfied with Life and was thinking of just getting in my car and going. Where? who knows.  The shift manager I worked with at the time helped me see that it didn't matter where I went I would always take me with me.  From time to time over the years that feeling of needing to escape has come and gone; it reminds me that something is really amiss in my life.
When I searched for the saying 'wherever you go there you are' there has since been a book or paper titled the same, written by Jon Kabat-Zinn, who evidently is a noted professor and writer of Mindfulness.  This is the third time in the last two weeks that name has crossed my path.  Coincidence?  When such a thing happens it means I best pay attention and I guess Jon Kabat-Zinn deserves my attention.

Wherever you go there you are.
