Go ahead, I am listening

The typical Eight of Swords is somewhat negative card that speaks to denial.  This Eight of Air(swords) encourages us to not go it alone, but throw off those bonds and share, the good and the bad and in sharing there is community.

The World is moving at such a fast pace and that pace has caused such discontinuity among us all.  I think that it is this disconnect that is what is at the root of so much turmoil, hate, disease, distrust...   We really don't stop and listen to each other.  On a good day we might hear about one minute of a conversation then we tune back in to our own internal dialogue. The days of dinner around the table and vacations around the campfire are almost a thing of the past.
Today I will work on being fully present and listen to what is being said.  Give someone or everyone my full attention.  That's where the connection is, validating another by listening.

  1. "we tune back in to our own internal dialogue." or we don't even take our eyes from our screen. I've been told I do both things sometimes. Mostly when I am tired but that's no excuus. Thank you for reminding me to stay present in a conversation :)

    1. I don't like it when people don't listen to me, and I can tell when they are not. Others can tell when I am not listening to them. We get what we give out. I have to remind myself to shut my mouth and give others a chance. (I am a bit bossy)

  2. I've always thought a "talking stick" (like in the card) was a good physical reminder to be willing to listen to others - though I think in some groups I'd be tempted to use it to whack someone who kept interrupting the person who was supposed to be talking! :)

    1. There is this little 'Metaphysical' church in the area, not big and I stop in on a Sunday morning here and there and they use a 'talking stick' - it's a good practice.

  3. I've long thought my own disconnect is based on the whole world comes at us now. When we only got news of the village an occasional monster was truly unusual. Now we are slammed with news of the world and pods of thousands doing and sharing the behaviors I used to think as singulas. I often wonder now if I'm the odd one for not sharing these inhuman practices.

    1. With more than seven billion people on the planet there are more singulars than we might think. What was that quote from Samwise Gamgee you posted a while back "It's a dangerous business Frodo going out your front door."
