The Masks We Wear

The author says the image speaks to us about transformation and discarding the masks we wear and the old way of doing things.  A possible epiphany.

In sales we are taught to 'mirror and match' clients.  Most if not all of us are more comfortable being with someone that likens to ourselves.  I have spent twenty years in direct sales and I have an extensive collections of masks.  There are days that I ask myself, who I am?  Who are you behind all those masks?  And after wearing so many different ones for so many years, will it be possible to be comfortable with the me of me after shedding the layers, and that is if I can shed the layers.
Judgement also speaks to answering 'The Call'
There is something palatable in air. Some sense of change is upon me or all of us.

  1. I think there is a time to put on your persona and a time to take it off. I become vulnerable when I take that mask off, so I tend to be wary of who is around when unmasking.

    1. I am tired of masking and unmasking. The shifting roles are exhausting.

  2. I agree with Bev. Those masks also have a protective function. I've identified with my persona of wife, mother and teacher for a very long time but gradually they faded. This often doesn't happen over night

    1. I have played many parts, but it seems like years since I have really been me. I have been daughter, caregiver, sister, teacher, aunt, confidant, and so many more.

  3. I think I've talked about masks several times, in many cases they are just as necessary as clothes...the last will slip away at death

My thoughts today are with a friend that is undergoing a major surgery, one that impacts her life. Sending healing energy and loving though...
