Backward glance

I don't care for the King of Swords; he is too self important and a bit judgemental.  Those old men think they know more than they do.  Can't trust them, they usually are only interested in the outcome as it pertains to them.

I wonder if I will have to change my perception of old men now that I have torn off lots of pages of calendars, and I too am a bit aged.  Is he here at the site of one of those walls he tore or knocked down and lives with some regret?  I have had this type of reflection lately.  Looking back, would I have made different choices knowing what I know now?  I realize the answer is that if a I chose different, the Carolyn I am today might not even be aware enough to ask that question, quite possibly might not have made it this far!  There are things that I don't want changed and they would have changed or not happened if I had chose differently somewhere along the line. So I am okay with my backward glance.

  1. I'm with you. My only regret lies in the stupid things I did while drunk. Kids drinking seems to be part of modern day process though.

    1. I partook too much of the goofy juices myself. Sometimes I wonder though. I think I have more compassion for those who deal with addictions. I would have not understood any of that unless I went through some of it myself. When I was taking all those addictive drugs getting through trauma I knew I had to be vigilant and not succumb.

  2. Like you, although I have encountered (too) many challenges,I am quite content with the woman I've become.
It looks like this king is taking a breath before walking uphill. Maybe he's old but he is still vigorous and a great part of his journey is still to come :)

    1. I still have issues but I am okay with most of my choices and working on the ones I am still uncomfortable with. I like that you comment that he is old yet still vigorous and lots of time to still do things. Hopefully that is true for all of us.

  3. Checking the rearview mirror isn't a bad habit every now and then, but we have to keep our eyes forward to know where we're heading. :)

    1. I think checking the rearview mirror is why I hit my head on the wall so much. Not anymore. Forward Ho!

My thoughts today are with a friend that is undergoing a major surgery, one that impacts her life. Sending healing energy and loving though...
