Skill Set

Lead, follow, or get out of the way.

Today I have to attend yet another class in real estate.  This one on the upcoming changes to how we list homes on a new web-based platform. Always something new.  This Eight of Pentacles speak to that.  New skill sets, refinement of what and how we do things, and adapt or get left behind. Even though I may have reached a certain level of skill and can call myself a professional in the field if I don't keep up with trends and changes, I am going to slip farther back in the line.
Yesterday I had a bit of a disagreement with a younger agent who has been in the business a little bit over a year. He wanted to quabble a bit and I wouldn't get caught up in the back and forth email dispute.  The ole 'who is the bigger fool' idiom.  Later in day I thought more on it and realized we were both right and both a bit wrong and so that unbalance set us off.  His way newer, mine more traditional.   I need to look to the Nine of Pentacles - just ahead to remind me, that I can be okay with the way I do things.

  1. I think you both have knowledge and skills that will be helpful. I remember being young and thinking we should get rid of everything (throw the baby out with the bath water), but now I see the wisdom in some of both. He will be lucky to have you to mentor him in the traditional side of things!

    1. Nah, he was being a bit of a punk, and I of course am so old I should just stay home...the different views of different generations. I could finally see where he was coming from, yet I am pretty sure the arrogance of his youth did not allow for a different perspective.

    2. i remember a manager once telling me you have to bring less experienced people along with you. But it's hard to keep composure when the other person thinks they know better! Thought provoking post which has given me an idea for one :)

    1. All things have different views. A lot of people just have no idea of some of the 'stuff' that goes on behind the scenes. Hot and steamy kitchens can be the worst of the bunch, though anything in the cut throat world of sales is up for grabs.

Be Well

My thoughts today are with a friend that is undergoing a major surgery, one that impacts her life. Sending healing energy and loving though...
