Contradictions

Why is it the hardest person to forgive is oneself?

We all mess up sometimes.  When others make mistakes I can forgive them.  With some of them a little longer than others, with myself almost never.  I made a mistake yesterday.  Not a life changing or disastrous slip but an mistake on my part none the less.  Why are we/I so self critical.  I am being overly harsh with myself, I realize that I am but I continue to look in the mirror and say "you idiot, how could you have done that?"
Late in the night I felt a little shift in myself and knew if I could not let go of my anger and resentment with myself that some dis-ease would occur.  I am using this platform today as a bit of a confessional trying to release the criticisms with myself.  I guess that King of Winter yesterday was giving me advanced foresight into being fair-minded.

  1. I think most of us do hold ourselves to a higher standard. Perhaps instead of lashing ourselves, we could simply say, "Hey, I learned something today." :)

    1. It really is not much, I guess I think I hold myself to a higher standard. Shame on me for making a mistake and being human.

  2. If we could only treat ourselves like we treat others. We would experience so much love, care, forgiveness, kindness, acceptance etc. throughout the day. :)

  3. Confession? Where is the dirt? We are all ears.
Truly I have found most people are so concerned with themselves they can't be bothered to judge or critique us. Write I've moved on on one of your lovely rocks and toss it out in the winter weather. Let it go. Breathe. Let it go...

    1. I like the idea of painting a rock a tossing the care away. It was really just a oversight, the other accepted my apology and moved on. Me I have to dig into the quagmire for self atonement.

  4. Or put your shoes on toes to the back and take a little walk.
How about lay across the bed with your head hanging over the edge and swallow a frog. You'll brighten right up, so long yesterday's carpola.

    1. Can I make toad soup and be done with it at that? Shallowing a whole frog will be difficult.
