The three R's

"It's the simple thing in life that are the most extraordinary." ~ Paulo Coelho

This chart is one of the first Oracles I can remember.  Learning my ABC's.  I can't recall any of the nuns names that taught me at St. Gabriel's but I suppose I could do some research, which I can do since I can read.  I do know that I didn't care for them, especially Mother Superior, but that is a story for another day.  I am forever grateful that I learned to read and write. There is nothing so wonderful as the written word. I spent a good part of my childhood buried in books and have continued that love affair throughout my life.  So here is to all the teachers that I am forever grateful for.  SALUTE!

It also reminds me, a lot of answers I seek have simple solutions, just go back to the basics.

  1. What a gift literacy is! I can't imagine not being able to read or write. Your simple solutions comment made me think of a Dr. Seuss quote:
“Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.”

    1. So true. We are the ones that make life complicated. I guess that is part of fun of it, learn as we go.

  2. did you have the brown paper tablets with chunks of wood still showing? The giant pencils three times bigger than a standard #2 yellow?

    1. Yes and Yes. Those pencils were hard to work with and the nuns required perfection, if not we got our hands whacked with a ruler. Oh well, so long ago. What our memories bring to us from time to time.

    2. Oh god the ruler whack and also the toilet paper that was like sawdust. Those nuns have a lot to answer for but also look where are and what we can do now...there is a happy medium. I have an Irish Catholic colleague who puts the fear of God into our learners. But they seem to like it....

Be Well

My thoughts today are with a friend that is undergoing a major surgery, one that impacts her life. Sending healing energy and loving though...
