ho-hum

These days seem more of a yawn-fest than downtime from working. I am a bit bored with myself, which says more about my mindset than my need to do. The rush to not having to adhere to a time-table is allowing me to find my rhythm in life, which seems to be nothing at the moment. Slowing down and waiting has not been my forte. I am still releasing those sticky bits of others and society's expectations. Sitting under a tree has some measure of interest.

Individuation

Selfcare is Healthcare. You don't need to go along to get along.  Sure there is lots to be shared and gained with others, but when it's not in your best interest, then stand apart. The thing is don't spend your time brooding about, enjoy your time.

What's that again?

In my 'time-out' phase reminding myself not to become too complacent and remember to review opportunities that present themselves.

"Opportunity can't knock if it doesn't know where you are."

Residue

There are days we need to detach from the world and retreat. Quiet solitude and reflection. The rear-a-view is not the wisest observation point, but still, required from time to know where we have been, as to choose where we go. The residue of our past can weigh on us heavily. Take the time to rest and recharge. Good advice.

Boring

Assumptions are boring. Thinking we already know what the day will bring; day in day out routine.  We can be our own worse enemy. No fun if we allow Life to become predictable. Missed opportunities if we think we already know.  We know what we know, or do we? If we assume, than we lose the fun of discovery?

Not interested

Another night of intermittent sleep makes Carolyn a dull girl. Something offered and unaware, makes a missed opportunity. There are days that I hear myself say "I wish I had..." Well those were the days of below operating capacity. Not interested, maybe, but more likely I was asleep at the wheel.

It is what it is

Curiouser and curiouser.  When finally given what is wanted, there is a sense of let down and a question asked, what next?
These days more and more of us are finding time on our hands because of the national health crisis.  Most will worry about where the money will come from.  I always have, but now I think I will think about the bonus of the extra time I have.  Time to nap, time to read, to cloud watch, to play with Kitty, to play games and paint rocks.  Maybe do some walking in the park and hug a tree or two.
Not spend it worrying about what I have no control over.  Not watching the doom and gloom forecasts.  Not sleeping away the day (jut naps).
It is what it is, and I can cry or better yet, have a really good time.

Apathetic

Well the house is clean and the silver is polished, now what.  Going through the motions is tedium and boring.  Do I continue to sit around and dither in my indifference or take an opportunity and try something different.  Stuck is Stuck, and no one can get you on the move but you.

Time out

I seem to vacillate between boredom and being overwhelmed with to much to think about and do.  The thinking is what is the issue.  Might need to take a break and go sit by the water.  Can't get to the ocean at the moment.  All rain and chilly for the next few days, so I might perch in my car and sit down by the river since the riverbanks are too wet.
Respite.

Pearls of wisdom

She seems to be offering pearls of wisdom to me.  What I do with them?  What we all do with them, is entirely up to ourselves.  Some work and some don't and some are stored on a shelf to be used another day or forgotten entirely.  Today when someone offers me one, I will pay attention and give it the consideration it is due.

Nothing better

Nothing better than a quiet contemplative walk out in Nature.  I prefer the beach, my love of a forest is so close that I couldn't choose which.  I need warmer weather so I can get out and walk barefoot across the new Spring grass and reconnect with Nature.  If the weather doesn't turn soon I am going to have to get on a plane and walk on a beach.  I think that is one of the big things about going to the beach, sure I vacate my life for a bit, but it is because I spend a good amount of time barefoot on the sand.

Allowing

Thinking about the young woman under the Tree of Knowledge in the typical Four of Cups, I wondered about whether there is evidence of disenchantment or just a comfortable knowing that the Universe will provide her with the something something she is looking for.
Today I am grateful for the warmth of my home.  Overnight there was a bit of ice accumulation and some lost their electricity in the early morning hours and are still without.  Brr.
I have all I need and if the Universe wants to offer me something extra, I am okay with that.

Revisitation

Pearl of Wisdom

I actually drew the High Priestess again this morning and after a bit I decided to replace her back in the deck and find her again with her companion card...The Four of Water(Cups).  The mermaid is offering me a Pearl of Wisdom, something to consider.  Will I take the pearl or piece of advice that will be offered to me today?  Perhaps a High Priestess will offer that pearl.
I flipped over and did a search of Pearls of Wisdom and a site popped up www.sapphyr.net that looks pretty interesting with bits of this and that and pearls of wisdom, so later today when I finish my work-a-day life, I might spend some time in research.
I love mermaids.

From behind the looking glass

So okay, you have a situation.  Don't brood, do something about it.

I have returned from my short hiatus, taking a few days break under the proverbial tree to give some time to rest my weary mind.  Though not the bodhi tree, I did become aware of something; for me there is no joy in complacent dissatisfaction.
I heard myself citing several times this last week, all that I have to be grateful for. Still I realize that something is lacking.  If I have all that I need and still feel the drag of boredom and dissatisfaction, I don't have all I need.  The offered cup is just out of my vision range or is it there and I don't see.  Maybe, just maybe, instead of looking for the answer I need to feel the answer?  Something to think on today, before I merge back into my work-a-day life.

No Thanks

No, I am not interested.

In the last couple of weeks I have mentioned to others that have been going through some hardships, that sometimes it is just your turn. Stuff happens. It floats along and lands on you and until it moves along and sticks to another, you endure.  They want someone to take their misery and dissatisfaction so they can feel better, pffft.  "Keep it I say"
Their are those that relish in their misery, others that shake it off quickly, and their are those that want you to take care of it for them or join them in their pity party.  I have taken part in each of the above scenarios, and thankfully now I just shake it off as soon as possible and move on.  If someone comes along today and wants to share their story I will listen and not be drawn in.

Crane

Birds of a feather, stick together

It is true, we are more comfortable when we are with those that are similar to ourselves.  The typical Four of Cups portrays someone under a tree taking a break from the world around her.  She works in a world where everyone is at odds with her, so challenging and exhausting. That is one of the reasons I retreat to the sea for a recharge.  All those clients and agents, working from their own agenda is challenging and exhausting. Hopefully Crane will bring me wisdom and insight today.

Wallow, why don't you

"If you want something to cry about, I will give you something to cry about."

I much prefer the image in the Rider Waite-Smith deck, the gal sitting under the tree, full of woe is me.  Disconsolate that the partying portrayed in the the three of cups has ended, she doesn't notice the new opportunity presented with the offered fourth cup.  That's the way of it sometimes; we don't want the good times to end.  The thing is, if the party goes on continuously it becomes the new norm and boredom sets in.  Never happy are we?

My Dad used to threaten us with the above quote, it was enough to dry up the tears.

Stemware

Which will be the best pattern choice for stemware?  This gal looks somewhat disenchanted with the process of picking out what cups will go best with the china pattern, that this soon to be married couple will use in their new home.

I never got married.  Never registered for marital gifts.  Never started a hope chest as a teenager.  Plates and glasses, cups and bowls are just something to serve up my meals on.  More often than not I use paper plates to save doing lots of dishes.  I notice in lots of home that their cabinets are full of mismatched cups and glasses like my cabinets.
When things go awry as they often do, I just need to ask myself, "will this be important in five years?"

Self evaluation

Sometimes in those quiet moments I can really listen to my own thoughts.  The trick is to quiet my mind.

Today this Four of Cups reminds me of the telling of Siddhartha Gautama sitting beneath the bodhi tree.  After years of searching he finally found a quiet space and sat with himself, tuning out all distractions.  The search is within.
