Sacred Space

A mellow short of King of Swords. Not all answers to our questions can be found through our intellectual mind games. Turn off the rights and wrongs of choices and turn into our own Soul message.  Music, and Dance, and Chanting may be better venues to opening ourselves to deciding what is best for ourselves.

Knowing ourselves

Changes you make can make others uncomfortable, and pressure to return to the status quo begins. We know what is right for ourselves. There comes a time that we must stand our ground and weather the storm and not concede others arm-twisting.

No further

A bit scary maybe, but wouldn't it be nice if when we had to make a decision something or someone like this would show up in our path giving us a clear indication that a change in direction has to be made. No getting around this knight. Turn around and find another way, choose another path, explore a different option.

Why say you?

This King has chosen to wear a mask. Why the subterfuge? Makes me suspicious. And the sword he carries, seemingly disappears to within? All is not what it seems. Any advice given today I think should be reviewed.  Not there would be intended trickery, The King of Swords is normally, above all else about truth. But his truth is based on his experiences, not on mine. Careful is as careful does.

The best policy

Honesty, the best policy? Mostly I say yes.  There are those truths about ourselves that we need to examine from time to time.  What once was truth and worked for us, eventually modifies or changes as we adapt throughout our lives. I honestly need to look at myself and my habits to see where changes need to be made as I begin this healing journey.  I am at that juncture that tomorrow is not the time to start, or put off starting. Today, this minute is where change begins. This or That, my choice.

Wisdom and Integrity

Mercury goes direct today. Still the energy of it's retrograde motion lingers a bit. The appearance of going backward is just an illusion from our vantage point here on Earth. Like a house of mirrors, we, are who we are but appear different with angled mirrors. The King of Swords reminds me to be fair in my dealings today. Stand up for what is right, but remember we each have a variant viewpoint of what is 'right'

Mind over Matter

Separating thought from feeling, can that be done? We are such interconnected beings. Reason vs Feeling? My energy is a bit unsettled today and I think the King of Swords is at hand to remind me that I am a mix of both thought and heart.

Might is Right

'Might is Right' is what I keep hearing when looking at this card. Typically this would be the King of Swords, a truth-sayer, an emissary of Lady Justice. This King's rightness is in doing what you were born to do. King's rule by supposedly divine right, the thing is we all have a divine right to be who we were/are meant to be. The problem, most never hear the song of their souls and turn to others for directional perspective.  The soft, gentle wisdom of this King, I would listen to.

Wisdom Keepers

Look, another aged, white bearded man come to calling.  Yesterday's Father Time and today his brother, Old Man Winter.  Both Titans of ancient Wisdom Keepers.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
History repeats itself, again and again until we learn the lessons.  These two wisdom keepers are not your typical, these days, old men, who mostly cannot be trusted or relied upon.
They have both self-quarantined and spend their long days in the woodlands, the natural places of the world.  "listen to the quiet places within" they tell us.
Traditional card, King of Swords. Trusted information gleaned from years of living his best truths.

Wisdom and Integrity

Wisdom and Integrity are the key words the author gives, and describes the King as a powerful person of esteem and holds all people to the highest of ideas.  Whose ideas.  His?  He cannot know another's idea. He rules from his perspective.
I cannot say I am blameless, for I too only saw the world and others from my perspective.  The years have soften my edges and I make room for others and their ideas and beliefs; Kings I don't know if they can.  And just now I realize, that if I can change and adapt, they too can.  Maybe, just maybe, I can give them a benefit of a doubt.  Not much mind you, but a bit of it.

Discernment

The ability to judge well, King of Swords.
Who the heck set his throne up out there?  He didn't, he was busy deciding the exact, right spot to set up.  Can he judge fairly if he his deciding his next best course of action?  I might listen to him unless he gets too self-righteous or bullies me, might.   Wonder if the King  will cross my path today.

You don't say.

I am arriving at that place in life that authoritative men just don't get under my skin as much.  I have resisted and rejected people, most especially men who tell me what to do.  Mostly when I draw a king, I mentally determine that no one will tell me what to do that day.  This King of Swords with is idealistic though not realistic, opinion(s) will not hold sway for me.  And further more I am not going to let him annoy me.  He is who he is and though he thinks he knows what's best for others, he does not. Well at least not all the time.

Rationality

Valued Judgement

Detached wisdom.  Can that really be?  I suppose when I am in the thick of 'it' I can lose perspective on the situation.  As I have gotten older, a lot of that 'stuff' doesn't make much of difference or really impacts me.  I wonder sometimes when we over-think things if that could make things even messier. Is that a word, messier? more of a mess then.  Maybe the answer is to just stop overthinking everything so much.  Maybe that is the wisdom of this King of Winter (Swords) he has made it his life's purpose to be in the know, and what has he done, retreated to give his mind a rest.

To thine own self be true

I am grateful for me!

I have enjoyed my thirty days of gratitude; it goes by in a flash. Normally this King irritates me, today though I think he reminds me to be true to myself and be grateful for me and my life.  I saw lots of beautiful sunrises and sunsets. I am grateful for all the conveniences in my life. Super grateful that I get another day, for electricity, central heat, clean water, roof over my head, clothes, food, car, freedom of choices...and I realize the one constant in all those moments of gratitude, is me.  Yay Carolyn!  Today I am grateful for me, for the good, the really good, and the not so good, because every moment of everyday is about me experiencing the moment.

Until I listen

This guy again?

It seems just about anytime I spend time with this deck, this fellow makes an appearance. I don't understand what he has to say to me.  Of course I am not prone to listen to old men's advice.  Funny that, because now I am in the same age group, so the guy is not really not an old man just a contemporary.
Maybe I should just sit down with him once and for all and hear him out.

Discipline

Another King.  I guess I better listen up.  I looked back over the cards the last couple of days.  The fairy skating and the two boys making the boat, both are developing and honing their skills.  Obviously to be kingly you must spend years studying, learning, and doing things that sharpen your skills and command the respect of others.  Discipline is the feeling from all the cards.  To do a thing and do it well takes time.

As long as this king leads by example and does not try to boss me around, it's all good.

Staring contest

The King and I have a staring contest going on.

Usually this King irritates me with his bossiness.  Not today.  Today he is trying some kind of mental telepathy conversation and I am not receiving his message.  Maybe I am blocked cause he usually is just a know-it-all, so I tune him out.  I think he has showed up to help me with my looping thoughts that were revealed with those reoccurring eights last week; thoughts going one way then the other depending on which day it was.               Mind mastery. Can one ever really have control over ones thoughts?  Thoughts are like the wind, always moving.  Sometimes a soft breeze, or maybe just like a 'whisper on the wind' and other times... Well we all know those other times when our thoughts race out of control.
This King may have more control over his thoughts, but...that is all he has to do, think kingly thoughts.  He doesn't have to dress himself, cook his food, go out and make his living, drive a chariot, battle off the beasts; he has someone(s) doing all that for him.  I wonder if he got off his throne and got his hands dirty if he would be so smug to say "I know better than you."  Oh well I guess he still bugs me.

Decision time

If one need some advice this is the dude to go to.  The King of Winter-Swords.  Kind of neat the way the cards keep in step with what is going on.  Yesterday's card of Balance advised on seeking counsel, and here he is.

Be Well

My thoughts today are with a friend that is undergoing a major surgery, one that impacts her life. Sending healing energy and loving though...
