Seasons

Seasons change and so do I!

The only constant in Life is change.
If you don't like who you are, change.
Change brings opportunities.
Change is never easy.
Change before you have to.
Don't be afraid of change.
Don't make change too complicated, just begin.
Change the way you look at things and the things you look at Change.

springs eternal

Hope springs eternal in the human breast;
Man never is, but always to be blessed:
The soul, uneasy and confined from home,
Rests and expatiates in a life to come.

I have heard the phrase 'Hope springs eternal' but never read the poem above from Alexander Pope.  I like that short poem, a tidy summary of our lives.
There have been times that I have all but given up any hope, for me, for others, for the lovely planet Earth, and then something stirs my soul and I grab the tether of hope and hold on.
So much to hope for. I will start for peace on Earth and goodwill for women and men and children, for trees, and plants, and all the animals that share our space.

Did you see that?

"Never laugh at live dragons." - J.R.R. Tolkien

Up above the world so high, like a diamond in the sky, might be a verse from 'Twinkle, twinkle, little star' but appropriate for the dragons that used to be able to fly the sky. Now they have retreated to deep caves and only fly out at night, if there are any left at all.  Like so many of other inhabitants of Earth, dragons are extinct or nearing extinction.  Their loss is not our gain.  Now more than ever we can use some signs of Magic.
For today I will look for signs of magic and keep my eye on the sky...you never know.

Seek

Inspiration or perspiration?

I must have pulled a half a dozen of decks from the draw and shuffled through them and did not have a bit of insight or connection to any of the cards that presented themselves.  You can look and look and if you get nothing then that's what you get.  So I gave up and chose this card.  It's pretty with a hint of Spring or early Summer, just where we are on the calendar. Maybe that is the choice today.  Nothing except maybe plant a couple of pots of flowers and just let the day be.
Seek and Sing - And the earth bursts forth with mercurial beauty as the energy of change infuses us with joy. Seek. Sing. Love. Linger. Breathe. Bathe in her sparkling scent.

A Look See

What did you want to do when you grew up?

A few weeks ago I was asked this question from a younger person; who at the age of thirty is having an identity crisis with the career he has chosen and trained for.  My answer was "to make money."  I wanted to make money, that is all I could think of when I was a teenager.  Money so scarce in my childhood home.  We were poor by many standards, so money was the beacon.  Not my siren call, just money, and I have been chasing the dollar every since.  Not having money can make me unhappy but I have also discovered, having money won't make me happy either.   I like having extra funds available to me, but I am still the same gal who finds my life lacking.  From where I stand, like this pentacle fairy I am looking to what is next.

Revisitation

Pearl of Wisdom

I actually drew the High Priestess again this morning and after a bit I decided to replace her back in the deck and find her again with her companion card...The Four of Water(Cups).  The mermaid is offering me a Pearl of Wisdom, something to consider.  Will I take the pearl or piece of advice that will be offered to me today?  Perhaps a High Priestess will offer that pearl.
I flipped over and did a search of Pearls of Wisdom and a site popped up www.sapphyr.net that looks pretty interesting with bits of this and that and pearls of wisdom, so later today when I finish my work-a-day life, I might spend some time in research.
I love mermaids.

Quiet introspection

It's all in the eyes

The eyes really are the gateway to the soul, the inner workings of most of us.  Reminds me of lyrics to a song, "you say so much when you say nothing at all."
Sometimes I say nothing at all because it is the kind thing to do.  At those times if others truly stopped and took a look they would know that my mind is processing something that might be better off unsaid.   I wonder if that is one of reasons people can't hold a gaze of another for long, afraid what they may see or afraid of what others might see in their gaze.

Pause a moment

What? another King?

"Balls said the queen, if I had them I'd be king."  -  I have been hearing this quote off and on for the last couple of weeks in my head and again, just now when I drew this king.  I drew the king of wands yesterday and now today the king of pentacles. Guess I better watch my mouth today if I encounter some grizzly ole king and his nasty temperament, I might just utter that quote out loud.

Sharpen the wits

"Now, lets think about this."

King of Wands are usually active, the let's go get 'em type.  This King has done his years out in service and wants to ponder the pursuit.  Unlike the King of Wands in the Rider Waite-Smith deck who sits on the edge of his throne, ready to leap into action, this King of Fire(Wands) appears contemplative.  Do not be deceived; his mind is razor sharp. Come closer and you can almost hear the wheels of action turning in his brain.
Usually when a court card appears I encounter that type of individual that day, so for today I will keep an eye out for this placid looking king and know it will be a contest of wits and not the actual chase that he/she is looking for.

Butterfly Effect

A wing and a prayer.

I recently read something about the Butterfly Effect.  The flapping of a butterfly's wings that can become a hurricane somewhere else.  A small change can result in a large difference elsewhere.  Something to think on.  Sometimes we may think our life doesn't sum up to much, but we never know when a kind or harsh word made a difference.
Reminds me a quote by Dwayne Dyer
"you can be right or you can be kind, be kind."

This n That

Road Map

The Ace of Earth (Pentacles) jumped from the deck this morning, and I drew the Nine of Cups as the companion card. First I noticed the stark difference in the colors of the two cards. The Ace shrouded in bleak brown, and the Nine awash in delicate hues of aqua.
In my birth chart I remember a astrologer said look for balance.  I have lots of Earth and Fire, and almost no Water.  Maybe that is what draws me to return to the Ocean.

Following Your Bliss

I got nothing.  My days lately have been a bit humdrum.  Boring in fact.  Now if a Unicorn were to ride in, that would liven things up a bit.  I wonder what delicious tidbits unicorns like, maybe I can set a dish of treats out and bring one close by.  I read somewhere recently that dragons are still alive in Romania, I wonder if the Unicorns also retreated to a safe place.  Maybe they followed their bliss and found the perfect place for them, not just a retreat but an oasis.
Guess I won't find mine sitting at home.

Enough

Debt Paid Off

There are more debts than just financial ones.
There comes a time when enough is enough.  Some debts cannot be repaid.  After my tornado experience there were many that contributed to my recovery, financially and emotionally.  Can I repay that?  I have tried, and realize that now all I can do is pay it forward.  There were some that expected something back and others were there because they wanted to, with no expectation of a return.  I am just about free from my own-self imposed expectations on repayment. Thank goodness.

Research - see-sea

Do Some Research

One of my great love affairs in life, books.  I am particularly interested in that small book the fairy has.  I don't think I have seen such a small book. Possibly a very small book of fairy secrets; maybe a bit of this 'n that on fairy magic. I could use some of that.
I was looking at the word research which has so many words with in.  The two that I first spotted was reach and chase. There are many more so I realize that the word research is a little book in itself.  For today perhaps I will take a second look at something rather than a quick glance.

Get a move on!

Moving and Grooving

If you don't use it, you lose it.  This does not just pertain to the body.  Our minds and feelings and spirit can become inflexible, as well as our bodies if we don't keep them active.  The body, mind, and spirit trinity.  Keeps us whole and functioning.  Something goes amiss with one portion of the equation, well there goes the rest of the system. Get the body going and the spirit and mind will follow.

What an enchanting card.  "Everything that you're asking for becomes yours in the summertime."  The big caveat here is to  be careful what I ask for.

Well let me get my list started.

Squeeze Play

Well earned time out.

This is a pretty laid back King of Wands.  Where's the hustle bustle, the strong assertiveness that this King usually portrays?  It is there, just beneath the surface.  Completely assured with himself, so much so he doesn't have to prove anything anymore.
I work with a King of Cups that acts like a King of Wands but you can see the insecurity beneath the bravdo.  Not so with this King.  He knows his business and he knows you know.
Good advice for us all.  Know your stuff and your confidence helps you relax and be this kind of self-assured. The other day some one quoted Wayne Dyer and said he said "what do you get when you squeeze an orange - orange juice of course."  Then he said "pay attention to what you get when someone gets squeezed hard and then you know what they are really made of."  Or something like that.  I really like that analogy.

It's all good

Life in the (not) so fast lane.

Success doesn't have to done at a dizzy pace. Life can be as easy or as hard as I make it.  For today I will enjoy my successes in what ever way they present.  Easy peasy or easy does it.

Don't save it for a special occasion, today is special- go ahead, take that Ace of Pentacles out for a spin.

Where's Carolyn?

All work and no play...

Whew, after four days of work cards and the cards suggest taking a break, a moment of joy and fun.  How often do we give ourselves permission to enjoy the day.  To sneak off to a private picnic.  Walk away from the work-a-day and have fun.  Not many.  We plan our work week, household chores, t.v. viewing, grocery lists, even our vacations.  I remember Summer days out of school, when we were shood out of the house and off we went; climbing trees and playing in a nearby creek.  Hide n Seek after the Sun set in a neighboring yard, and what about a really good came of dodge-ball.
Life can be as complicated or not as we make it.  Today's card reminds me to play.

Another fine day!

A job worth doing is worth doing well.

Seem to have a theme going these last few days about the fruits of one's labor.  Here is yet another doing what he does best.  It is possible he picked up a tree limb and saw the wand that laid within, yet it still took years of practice to fine tune his carving skills and the art of wand making.  With a bit of fairy dust to waken the magic of  the wands and they are complete.
We put our pride into our work and hope others appreciate what we have done or created.  Do what you love and others will notice; if not there is still self-satisfaction of a job well done.

Winners and winners

Feather in your cap!

I wonder who is the real winner here?  The Merchant that has come to purchase hand crafted athames or the Craftsman who has produced such beautiful pieces of work.  Some would say the Merchant who has the extra monies to indulge his fanciful lifestyle, but is he.  He collects and flaunts and brags, while the Artisan has spent his time crafting a piece of artwork which also can serve as a weapon or something to be used in other daily forms of work or lifestyle. Money and power are one thing, a good days work another.
Of course the Craftmans will turn around and spend his earnings on home, and hearth, and other materials to maintain his lifestyle, so maybe everyone is  a winner when the community works in harmony.

Appreciation

Things don't happen overnight.

Nothing like a job well done.  It took a lot of time and energy to get to harvest.  Some people only see the finish product, the end result and don't realize all that went into that cup of mead.  Plant a tree, grab the apple, squeeze press, and ferment, ta-daa, you get apple wine.  Not so fast.  There are blights, late frosts, droughts, worms, lack of help at picking time...  Raise a glass and remember to think about everything that took to get the juice in the cup.

Muck and Mess

The World Changes and Justice helps us adapt.

Does Justice help us adapt or maybe better, gives us the lines in which we can color our World?  I recently went to an Ethics Class that we must take in my profession and the presenter gave us a valid point, that our rules and regulations must change as the World changes. T.V.,  Automation, and Social Media, gives us a whole different world than the original laws were designed for.
I wonder in a couple of hundred years if History does not reflect back on this time and gives us the turning point of real change. That change maybe for the better and maybe not.  There is no balance these days and that makes the Wheel of Life wobbly.  Correction coming, you bet.

Pony Up

Sometimes you win and sometimes you don't.

That's the nature of things.  Sometime you get the bear and sometimes the bear gets you.  With Pegasus as the central figure in this Five of Swords I would guess today I get the upper hand in some situation.  I am not currently in any dispute or standoff situation but that can change as fast as the second hand on the clock.
Do the best you can, do what is right and truthful, and hope for the best.

Speak your mind

Left Brain - Right Brain

Your thoughts and opinions on things can change and sometimes rapidly if you are a Gemini, like this Knight of Swords.  Not all Sword's knights are Gemini, but this one is.  Her/His version of things change depending on which side of the twin is speaking.  It really is best not to get into a debate or squabble with this Gemini cause you can't win, especially when it is two against one.
For today if I run into someone that changes her or his mind mid-stream, I know that the person is a twinsie.

Moving On

Could you really trust someone like Cepheus who along with his wife Cassiopeia, sacrificed their daughter Andromeda?

I don't think so.  If someone approaches me today with some words of advice or a suggestion of some sorts, I will turn my shoulder of indifference and walk away.
"What's that you say? I don't think so!"

Did you hear that?

Musica Universalis

Ahh the wonder and joy of harmony, until someone comes along and wants to disrupt the easy flow of things.
The LWB warns that "when the card appears, the individual needs to remain heroic in facing challenges and disruptions imposed upon the creative life."  Well I don't get that from this card, maybe the RWS but this seems more like the Music of the Spheres filtering down through the gates that separate above and below.  Have you ever had a day when from somewhere distance a soft and lyrical sound drifts around you and you know it is a celestial moment? Lovely.
