Learned differences

Raised together this pup and raccoon have not realized that they are predator and prey.  They'll be raised as siblings, being joyful, comforting companions.  With these two, there will be an instinctive urge to chase and to retreat, but being raised in a nurturing environment they will ignore those promptings as a bonded pair.   There are some situations we should run like heck and escape and then there are others that are simply learned prejudices.

  1. What a difference it would make if we could unlearn those prejudices.
I heard a racket on my front porch the other morning (where I feed a hearing-impaired cat). I thought it must be an opossum cleaning up leftovers since there was no yowling. I opened the door to find a trio of baby raccoons!

    1. One of sisters many years ago had a raccoon. Friendly mostly, but it got out of its cage and it took them several weeks to find as it stayed hidden within home and attic. By the time they captured it had reverted to its instinctual wildness and they had to release. Which probably got it killed since it was used to being fed.

Be Well

My thoughts today are with a friend that is undergoing a major surgery, one that impacts her life. Sending healing energy and loving though...
