Thump
I wonder if this Ace of Wands I could use as an instrument of enlightenment. I work with clients that can't see the larger picture sometimes, and I occasionally want to thump them on the head and say "Let's look at the larger picture here." Maybe if I had this magic wand I could wave it and make everything better for them, for everyone.
So instead of beating people on the head maybe I need to find a better way to use this Ace to help light my way. I can't make people change their minds. I can't force them to see the forest cause there are so many trees in their line of vision. I can only accept that we all get stuck in our ways, myself included. I don't want to be hit over the head with a club and I am sure they don't either.

Spiral Dynamics has helped me understand why some folks can't see the forest for the trees. It's like their world (where they are comfortable) is the size of a thimble and they refuse to move into a larger container with more possibilities. I guess all we can do is model another way of doing things, and when they're ready, maybe they can try something new.
ReplyDeleteI have not heard of Spiral Dynamics, I will check it out. It can be challenging to try and work something out without the making the other person wrong. Once you make them wrong you lose them.
DeleteI've always had the tendency to pull the crowd to the tree in a big loud voice, something I hope I've overcome. My blog is about the only place where I speak my mind, and it is just a form of thinking outloud. Working with the public can be a blast :)
